At St John the Baptist, our school uniform is an important part of our identity and helps create a sense of belonging, pride and connection within our school community.
Students are expected to wear the correct school uniform each day and to present in a neat and tidy manner. We appreciate the support of families in helping students develop responsibility for wearing and caring for their uniform.
Please ensure:
- all uniform items are clearly labelled with your child’s name
- students wear the correct uniform for the day
- school shoes are clean and appropriate
- the school hat is brought to school each day and worn in accordance with our sun safety expectations
- uniform items are maintained in a clean and presentable condition.
Sports days vary between year levels. Families are advised of their child’s designated sports day by the school.

Grooming and Presentation
Students are expected to present in a neat and appropriate manner that allows them to participate safely and comfortably in all aspects of school life.
Hair should:
- be the student’s natural hair colour
- be kept neat and away from the face
- be tied back when longer than shoulder length
- be styled in a way that allows the school hat to be worn correctly.
Hair accessories should be in school colours, Navy, maroon or white.
Hairstyles should be appropriate for school and should not include extreme styles, designs or colouring.
Make-up, coloured nail polish and temporary or decorative tattoos are not part of the school uniform.
Jewellery and Accessories
To maintain a simple and consistent approach to school presentation, students may wear:
- one small stud or sleeper in each ear lobe, in gold or silver
- one signet ring
- one plain gold or silver bangle
- one watch.
For safety, students may be asked to remove jewellery or accessories during particular learning, sporting or physical activities.
Where a student’s uniform, grooming or accessories do not meet school expectations, the school will work with the student and family to address the concern.
